GCI Seeks Compassionate Release of Mofor Augustine

GCI sent a notice to the State Counsel in Buea this afternoon requesting the compassionate release of Mofor Augustine. We identified Mofor as a candidate for aid during interviews at the prison in mid-August. He was admitted to the Buea Prison in late February and has yet to appear before a judicial authority. Furthermore, he suffers from serious malaria and skin disease, both of which were contracted during his time at the prison. While he has received medication from the prison nurse, it has been insufficient in meeting his medical needs. These problems, along with an expired remand warrant, make Mofor Augustine a prime candidate for unconditional bail.
