Human Rights Advocacy

Cameroon sees a never-ending string of human rights issues; the Southwest Region is no exception. GCI believes that education is one of the biggest tools in the fight for social justice and thus, in the event of pressing human rights problems, the organization embarks on advocacy campaigns to raise awareness on issues like forced evication, prisoners’ rights, and civil liberties during election cycles. Human Rights Hour

In order to sensitize Kumba and the surrounding Meme Division on human rights topics, GCI holds a weekly radio show called ‘Human Rights Hour.’ Our topics range from women’s rights to the environment, to international peacekeeping. With this radio show, we hope not only to education the public about these issues, but also empower the community. We regularly host a multitude of guests, including local barristers, public officials, journalists, and even everyday citizens with the hope of broadening the human rights dialogue in the region and bringing everybody to the table.
